The 71st Mountain Trial will take place on Sunday 13th September 2026.

The Entry fee is £30.00 (£1-50 discount if you use your own SI card)

The entry fee for anyone Under 23 on the day of the race is £5.00 (with a free loan of an SI card if you don’t have one).  This is possible thanks to Ted Lowthian’s bequest.

The closing date for entries was Monday 31st August 2026.

Some late entries are available, subject to the availability of maps. There is a £3 late entry fee. Contact info@ldmta.org.uk to enquire. The final day for late entries is Sunday 6th September. After that we prepare, print and distribute the final start lists.

Entries are restricted to men and women over 18 years of age. Over 14’s may compete as part of a pair on the Short course if the accompanying runner is at least 21. Experience in long mountain races and in mountain navigation is essential and applicants will be vetted. All entry will be by online entry. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified as soon as possible and their entry fee will be refunded. Awards for team prizes will be based only on club affiliation declared on the entry form.

If the event has to be cancelled then refunds will be given. We may need to make a deduction for unrecoverable expenditure occurred before the date of cancellation.
Entrants who withdraw before the closing date are eligible for a full refund. Unfortunately, entrants who withdraw after the closing date do not get a refund.

It is not possible to change your course via SIEntries. If you need to do so, just email info@ldmta.org.uk

On the day, it will be possible to switch from the Classic or Medium to the Short Course for a £5 fee and subject to the availability of maps.
Before that course changes may be possible (subject to map availability) for a £3 fee.

Our refund policy: Full refund for entry cancellation before the closing date.
No refund after the closing date.

There will be a £5 per car parking charge on the day.
